Client Protection Standard

The RCB Client Protection Standard.

We believe every client deserves to know exactly what they are getting, what it costs, who is responsible, and what happens if something needs attention. The RCB Client Protection Standard is our commitment to that belief — in writing, as standard, on every project.

10 pillars. Every project. No exceptions.

Scope · Insurance · Compliance · Payments · Communication · Variations · Handover

01

Clear Scope Before Commitment

Every project begins with a detailed written scope of works before any contract is signed. You know exactly what you are buying before you commit. There is no "we will figure it out as we go."

02

Written Assumptions and Exclusions

Every estimate includes a clear list of the assumptions it is based on and the items explicitly excluded. You know exactly what is and what is not covered. No hidden scope, no retrospective surprises.

03

Insurance and Competence Checks

We confirm insurance and competence for every trade involved in your project. Where regulated or specialist work is required — gas, electrical, glazing, drainage, structural — it is routed through suitably registered specialists, not carried out by unqualified operatives.

04

Proper Design and Compliance Route

We coordinate the correct planning, Building Regulations and structural route for your project. No unauthorised works. No skipped inspections. No shortcuts that create compliance problems at sale or remortgage.

05

Transparent Payment Stages

Payments are tied to clear, defined stages of actual progress. No large up-front deposits without mutual written agreement and clear justification. Your money moves when the work has been done.

06

Professional Communication

Weekly written updates, site photographs, a single point of contact and clear identification of any decisions required from you. You are never left wondering what is happening, who to call, or what the project is costing.

07

Documented Variations

Every change to scope, specification or cost is documented in a written variation notice and agreed in writing before it is carried out. No verbal agreements, no after-the-fact surprises on the final account.

08

Respect for the Home

Site protection, dust and debris management, reasonable working hours, and consideration for neighbours and occupants are not optional extras. They are part of how we operate on every project, every day.

09

Specialist Coordination

Structural, drainage, mechanical, electrical, fire safety and other specialist trades are coordinated by RCB to prevent clashes, programme delays and compliance failures. You do not need to manage the interfaces between trades.

10

Structured Snagging, Handover and Aftercare

A formal internal snagging process before client walkthrough. Completion documentation including Building Control certificate, warranties and as-built information. Aftercare support after handover. A project does not end the day we leave site.

Important scope of this standard

This is our working standard and process commitment. It is not a guarantee of planning approval, Building Control approval, fixed cost without an agreed scope, or outcomes outside our control. Construction involves inherent variables — ground conditions, existing structure, utility positions, planning authority decisions — that no contractor can fully predict. What we commit to is managing every element within our control to the standard described above, and communicating clearly when anything outside our control requires your attention.
