Project Rescue
Project Rescue — When Things Go Wrong, We Help Put Them Right.
Has your building project stalled, been abandoned or delivered poorly? RCB assesses the situation honestly, identifies the practical path forward and takes over where others have failed.
When your project needs rescuing, you need the right team.
A stalled or failed building project is one of the most stressful situations a homeowner or developer can face. Whether your contractor has disappeared, work has stopped due to disputes, or you have discovered serious problems with the quality of what has been built, the priority is an honest assessment of where things stand and a clear plan for what comes next.
RCB has experience taking over projects at all stages — from partially completed works with no documentation to near-finished projects requiring remediation before Building Control sign-off. We will tell you what is recoverable, what it will take to put things right, and whether we are the right team to do it.
We do not offer false reassurance. We offer a professional assessment, a clear scope, and a plan you can rely on.

How It Works
The RCB process for this service.
Initial Call
Tell us what has happened, what stage the project is at, and what your concerns are. We will assess whether a site visit is the right next step.
Site Assessment
We visit the site, review all available documentation, and assess the structural, compliance and practical position of the project as it stands.
Written Assessment Report
We provide a written report setting out what has been done, what has not been done, what risks we have identified, and our honest view on feasibility of recovery.
Recovery Scope & Estimate
If rescue is viable, we prepare a detailed scope of works and itemised estimate covering everything required to complete or remediate the project.
Project Takeover & Delivery
RCB takes over the project, coordinates all trades, manages Building Control re-engagement and delivers through to handover and sign-off.
Planning & Regulations
Project rescue situations frequently involve Building Regulations compliance issues — including work carried out without approval, inspections not carried out at the correct stages, and structural work with no calculations. RCB will identify these issues as part of the assessment and advise on the remediation route. Building Control can often be re-engaged, but this depends on the nature and extent of the works. We will give you an honest view of what is achievable.
FAQs
Common questions.
My builder has disappeared — what should I do first?
Secure the site if it is open or unsafe. Document the current state with photographs. Gather any paperwork you have — contract, emails, invoices, building regulations approvals. Then contact RCB for an initial conversation. We can advise on next steps including whether to contact Building Control, your insurance provider or seek legal advice in parallel.
Can RCB rescue any project regardless of stage?
We will assess any project honestly. Whether rescue is feasible depends on the stage of the works, the nature of any defects or non-compliant work, and what documentation exists. We cannot guarantee rescue feasibility until we have completed a site visit and reviewed the evidence. We will always tell you honestly if a project is not recoverable.
What if work was done without Building Regulations approval?
This is a common situation in project rescue cases. It is often possible to engage Building Control retrospectively, but this depends on the type of work, whether it can be inspected in its current state, and whether any corrective work is required. RCB will advise on the realistic options and coordinate the correct route.
Will RCB charge for the initial assessment?
The initial call is free. Site assessment fees depend on the scale and complexity of the project. We will agree this with you before visiting. Assessment costs are transparent and separate from any subsequent recovery scope.
Can I take legal action against my original contractor?
This is a matter for a solicitor, not a builder. RCB can document the state of the works and provide an assessment report, which may be useful evidence. We will advise you to take independent legal advice if appropriate. We focus on the practical recovery — getting your project completed.
